Libraries & Social Networking
There are so many social networking tools out there how does a library know which one to choose and how long before it goes. Things change so quickly, everthing costs. Social networking within libraries can result in better service and communication with their users. Librarians need to collaborate to explore these tools and share knowledge about what works.
IT gives users new ways to be involved and participate in the library.
Social networking is an opportunity for libraries to bring together their patrons so they can have a say in what they would like in regards to improvements, exhibitions etc. Libraries need to evaluate and try new tools as more people participate in virtual worlds and other social networking tools. Libraries need to be where their users are and reinvent some of what they do to meet the information needs people have.
